Captain-Commander's Office, Seireitei, Soul Society [Sunday, 12/22 FT].

A few days had passed since the Battle of the Fake Karakura Town, and things were, for the most part, settling back to normal around the Seireitei. Things had managed to get even more interesting once Shunsui had defeated Coyote Starrk, the second of the three Espada to fall, leaving only the one, whom Aizen himself struck down, to everyone's shock and surprise. And then there were only the three traitorous captain and the strange Arrancar boy Wonderweiss, against the weakened Shinigami forces and the Visored.

And, apparently, Ichigo Kurosaki, who managed to finally fight his way out of Hueco Mundo and joined the fray at just the right time.

Of course, it hadn't all been that simple. It never was, and Aizen's powers were, of course, unique. They dealt in hypnotism, and everyone except the ryoka boy had been under the influence of it, completely unaware that the being they fought the whole time had not actually been Sōsuke Aizen at all, but, instead, his former lieutenant, poor little Momo Hinamori, revealed only after Histugaya drove the finishing blow straight into her heart.

It was, needless to say, quite a bit awkward, and in that moment of distress and confusion, Aizen managed to incapacitate them all, leaving only Ichigo to fight him. But, against all odds, because he's the hero of the story, he and his father (appearing, of course, at just the right time) managed to chase him into Soul Society and finish the job, after Yamamoto made a death-defying stand against Wonderweiss's true form that cost the old man an arm, but truly showed exactly why he was the most powerful Shinigami in thousands of years.

Or something like that. When Aizen had incapacitated the other Shinigami, he drove them to the ground and forced them into place, so they could watch as he tried to destroy everything, but Shunsui didn't really care to just watch some glorified reiatsu pissing contest. If he was going to be rendered immobile and unable to fight for a while, he might as well just close his eyes and get some rest. And the next thing he knew, he woke up and discovered it was all finally over. Finally. And the fact that he'd woken up meant that they'd won, and Division Four was swarming over the battleground, looking for bodies in need of healing.

Shunsui just waved them off; he was a little worn down, but he was fine, and he knew there were others that faired far worse than him, Jūshirō most of all, but they assured him he was fine, they'd already taken him to their headquarters for treatment, but what about him, was he okay?

"Depends," Shunsui had grunted at them, though he may have leaned a little into the offered support. "Did you bring any sake with you?"

To say he needed a drink after all that felt like a gross understatement.

And, just like that, it was all over. And the pieces were all being put back together. Division Four had been working overtime to fix everyone's injuries. Hinamori was on the recovery, Jūshirō had been outfitted with a new heart (perhaps even a better one, Shunsui hoped, since that last one hadn't been doing him many favors, either), Nanao-chan had finally stopped fussing over him and his own mostly superficial injuries, too.

Sōsuke Aizen had been bounded by the most powerful reiatsu-killing restraints and sentenced to 18,800 years in Muken, the lowest level of the Seireitei's underground prison...well, 20,000 years after he'd gotten a bit cheeky with Yamamoto over the punishment. Shame they couldn't just execute him, really, but that was the problem with actually immortal beings....sometimes, execution just wasn't a viable option. But maybe they'd manage to figure out a solution to that before it inevitably came around to bite them in their asses again.

Once Aizen was taken care of, there was, of course, another very important matter that Yamamoto had to take care of, summoning three of his captains--Byakuya Kuchiki, Kenpachi Zaraki, and of course Shunsui Kyōraku--into his office for a very, very important matter.

"You damn youngsters!" The old man exploded at them once they were gathered there, Byakuya irritated by this waste of time, Kenpachi disdainful over the idea that he should have to take any of this, and Shunsui just trying desperately not to laugh. "You lost your captain robes!?"

Yes. After the greatest threat that the Soul Society had ever seen had been taken care of, apparantly, Yamamoto's next order of business was dealing with lost captain robes.

"Tearing them is one thing!" the old man railed, exploding with unbridled fury. "But losing them!? And now you're all standing there as if nothing's wrong! This worries me greatly!"

"Captain-Commander," Byakuya put in coolly, "please do not be concerned. Captain robes are a dime a dozen. I will supply the money for them--"

"That is not what I am concerned about!" Yamamoto exploded once more. "And they're not a dime a dozen, you fool! Now, listen here! Battles are not just about winning! What in the world do you all think a captain's robe is?"

"Dead weight," said Kenpachi.

"Cheap clothing," offered Byakuya.

"....a fashion statement ♥?" Shunsui guessed.

"You damned imbiciles!!!"

The abuse would probably continue for a better part of the hour, and Shunsui was definitely wishing he could be back at his division's headquarters getting everything ready to head back to Fandom, or that he could be with Jūshirō as he recovered from his injuries, but, despite how much he'd rather be doing something else just then, Shunsui just grinned faintly and drifted off a little as the ranting and raving continued, thinking that, even though the old man had lost an arm, it was good to see that he was feeling like himself still after the whole ordeal.

[[yes, that is the ACTUAL scene that end's Shunsui's part in all of this. It's over, it's done, I am absolutely not touching another Bleach arc for a million years now.

...well, maybe a year, or so, considering there's some pretty juicy stuff up ahead, but this arc is the absolute worst. Thanks, everyone, who stuck through it with me, and Shunsui should be back sooooon.]]
