Fake Karakura Town, Tokyo, Japan [Thursday 12/19 FT].
Wonderweiss had called the beast to break the world out of the Garganta from Hueco Mundo...or, at the very least, to break the barrier that held Aizen from participating in the fray. Of course, with several captains already down from their battles with the Espada, the Gotei 13 was looking pretty ragged and worse for wear.
What luck, then, that the Visored oh-so-conveniently chose that exact moment to make their appearance. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, after all, and it would seem that, despite the differences that Visored and Shinigami held against each other, they could all agree that Aizen had to be stopped, no matter what.
But first...
"Ah!" From the ranks of the gathered Visored, that small group of those who were once Shinigami, who, though circumstances beyond their control, now gained the powers of Hollows through their Masks, one young woman broke away, dashing off into the sky with a faint ruffle of her skirt and an objection from one of the others. "Ah! Hey! Wait! Where're you goin', Lisa?"
But she didn't slow down to acknowledge the cry, her attention set firmly on a very specific and familiar reitsu pulsing in the distance. She hurried along the streets of the fake Karakura Town until she located the source, until she found him there, Shunsui Kyōraku, face down in the rubble of the pavement cracked and splintered from where he'd landed there with all the force of that incredible spiritual energy that could only belong to him.
Weakened now, slightly, but far from fading.
Lisa Yadōmaru frowned down at that prone body, lying there motionless.
Then she lifted her foot and promptly smashed it straight down into the back of Shunsui's head.
"How long were you planning on playing dead, huh!?" she demanded, grinding her heel into his skull after he released a faint sound of surprised pain.
Each twist of her foot inspired the rhythm for the following chorus of "Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!" until Shunsui finally called for mercy. "Alright, alright!" he said, and then he laughed, as Lisa removed her foot and Shunsui could lift his head to look at her. "You got me ♥."
He recognized the voice, of course. Hell, he'd recognized that stomp, but it hadn't fully prepared him for the view as he eyes fell on that stern, familiar face, those strong eyes behind her thin glasses, and he couldn't help but smile lazily, though a good deal of the laziness was due to the fact that he did just got shot point-blank in the back by a cero and went crashing down to Earth. But for that moment, none of that seemed to matter that much, and he let out a soft, pleased sound.
"You've gotten even more beautiful since the last time I saw yo--" he started, but, before he could get to any hearts or -chans, Lisa's sneaker interrupted him, swinging straight for his chin, with enough force behind the kick to throw not only his head but his entire body back.
"Stay there and rest!" Lisa demanded, although she probably didn't have to, as Shunsui was already easing into a comfortable position there among the shards of pavement, grinning despite the throbbing of his face. "I'm going to show you just how strong I've become!"
"Lisa-chan," Shunsui said, shifting a little more as she turned to head back into the fray, but she paused at the sound of his low, rumbling voice.
"I'm glad that you're well," he said.
And she held that pause for a moment longer, before she turned to glance at him over her shoulder.
"You idiot," she grunted, as she turned away once more, and then launched herself back up into the aerial battleground, where the next round of fighting had already begun.
Shunsui leaned back a little, supporting himself with his arms, as he watched her leave, almost so quick she was a blur. If anyone asked, he would have told them he was merely appreciating how well the short skirt of her fuku suited her, but, really, he was just hoping that she had become stronger, since the last time, when he had miscalculated, he'd chosen poorly, and she hadn't been strong enough...more than a hundred years ago....
"Be careful," he murmured, to nobody but the wind, "Lisa-chan..."
[[CONFESSION TIME II: I thought Lisa was such a basic bitch when we first met her, but that was before I really knew her background (see also: F this arc), and now I sort of love her? Which just proves that Shunsui just makes everything better by proxy. Also, this is probably my favorite scene in the entire arc, because, let's face it, Shunsui does not get kicked in the face nearly enough these days ]]
